Florence Elizabeth Black Colston

Funeral services for Florence Elizabeth Black Colston, age 91, of Demorest, will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, May 13, 2011 from the Fairfield Baptist Church. Rev. Keith Allison will officiate with interment to follow the service in Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Colston passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at The Oaks at Scenic View.

Born December 24, 1919 in Habersham County, Mrs. Colston was the daughter of the late Charles Douglas and Florence English Black. She was a homemaker and was the oldest living member of Fairfield Baptist Church. Mrs. Colston loved gardening and crocheting and she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Floyd B. Colston, sisters Ethel Jones, Pauline Groves, Geneva Groves, Belle Jones, and Virginia Humphries, and son in law Donnie Dodd.

Survivors include daughter and son in law Linda and John Taylor of Demorest, daughter Ann C. Dodd of Demorest, brothers William Black of Demorest and Charles Black of Cornelia, sister Ladelle Goss of Clarkesville, grandchildren Jana Rose, Lori Gary, Mark Fry, Roy Fry, and Tom Fry, and eight great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Hillside Memorial Chapel, 5495 State Highway 197 South, Clarkesville, on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 2-4 PM and from 7-9 PM.
