Willis R. "Bill" Trupp, age 92, of Cornelia, Georgia, formerly of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011.
Mr. Trupp was born on July 29, 1918, in Hastings, Nebraska. He was the son of the late George and Mary Lapp Trupp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Trupp and his former wife, Eileen Brooke Trupp. Bill received a Bachelors Degree at Hastings College and then went on to earn his Masters Degree at the University of Wyoming. He was a proud United States Army Veteran during World War II, where he received a Victory Medal. Mr. Trupp was a History teacher and coached Football, Basketball, Track, and Baseball for 15 years. Bill was elected to be County Superintendent of Schools in Lexington, Nebraska, serving until 1968. He then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where the governor appointed him to the State Department of Education, serving as director of finance until he retired in 1986. Bill was a former member of Rotary, the American Legion, and the Elks Club. He was an avid golfer, loved all sports, and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Shapley Trupp, Cornelia, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Billy Busic, Clarkesville, GA; daughters, Mary Lu Smith, Cleveland, GA and Bonnie Fox, Lincoln, Nebraska; son, David Conklin, Madison, GA; sister, Margaret Kline, Huntington Beach, CA; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Private memorial services will be held for Mr. Trupp.
