Rachel Cowart Benfield

Funeral services for Rachel Cowart Benfield, age 89, of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Pastor Joey Pritchett will officiate with interment to follow the service in Powell Gap Cemetery in Rabun County.

Mrs. Benfield passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Newton Medical Center.

Born October 9, 1921 Mrs. Benfield was the daughter of the late Thomas and Teresa Nichols Cowart. Mrs. Benfield was a member of Providence Baptist Church and she was a homemaker. In addition to her parents Mrs. Benfield is preceded in death by her husband Clyde Benfield.

Survivors include daughters and sons in law Eddie and Louie Horton of McDonough and Sandra and Donald Norton of Lilburn, son Jack Benfield of Clarkesville, sons and daughters in law Jimmie and Penny Benfield of Conyers and Bobby and Kathryn Benfield of Clermont, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
