Wilbur H. Durrance

Wilbur H. Durrance, age 93, was called home by our Lord, April 21, 2011 at high noon. His wife Betty Durrance was by his side. Wilbur was born in Tillman, Florida on January 20, 1918. He was a citrus grower for 70 years and former owner of large orange groves.

Wilbur served as mayor of Lake Placid for many years. He retired to Clarkesville in 1997. He was a member of Tallulah Falls United Methodist Church. Wilbur was an adventurer and big game hunter whose travels took him around the world.

He is survived by his wife Betty, seven children, 14 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Family will receive friends at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Tallulah Falls United Methodist Church, with memorial services following at 11:00 AM

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in memory of Wilbur H. Durrance be made to United Hospice, 700 S. Enota Drive, Gainesville, GA 30501.
