Ms. Shirley Lagerstrom McDonald, age 82, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on April 20, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a heart attack.
A memorial service to celebrate her life is scheduled for Saturday, April 23rd at 4:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 800 South Enota Drive. Rev. Paul Evans will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.
Shirley was born in Galesburg, Illinois on August 23, 1928 to Glenn and Ruth Lagerstrom. She was a resident of Gainesville for over 25 years, owning a business called A+ Secretarial Services. She was the first Western Union agent established after the bus terminal location and was an active member of American Business Women's Association. She loved the game of golf, playing cards with her friends, and activities with the Red Hat Club.
Shirley is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Wimmer Bernstein and Stan Bernstein, Patti and Mark Waller and grandson, Matthew Waller; her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and JoJo Lagerstrom and nephew, Keith Lagerstrom; her granddaughter, Trina Wimmer Griffin and husband, Chess Griffin and great grand children, Jackson and Will Griffin; her granddaughter Casey Wimmer and fiancée, Chris Reese.
