Philip Henry Wilson

Obituary Date: Saturday, April 16, 2011
Mr. Philip Henry Wilson passed away on the morning of Saturday, April 16th after suffering a brain aneurysm earlier in the week. He was 55 years old.

A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, April 23, 2011 at The Highlands United Methodist Church in Gainesville followed by a reception at the home of Susan Carangio.

Phil, born in Middlesborough, England, resided in Gainesville Georgia. He was many things to many people: As an active member of The Highlands UMC, he loved being with the members of his Men's Group and other members of the congregation. He was very involved with The Walk to Emmaus.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and collector. As a young man, he worked in pit crews. Later in life, he cheered on Dale Earnhardt and Jimmie Johnson from his living room with his brother, sister, and brother-in-law.

He was a musician and lover of music, especially The Beatles. He was a gardener, enjoying nothing more than working the ground where he lived and producing vegetables, fruit and flowers. He was a carpenter and a builder - many homes of his friends and family bear the beautiful work of his hands. He was also a Wii bowling champion.

Phil is preceded in death by his father; Kenneth Wilson, and his brother, Christopher Carangio.

Survivors include his mother; Margaret Wilson, sister; Susan Carangio, brother; Richard Wilson, niece and nephew; Allyson and John Brandt all of Gainesville, and numerous loving friends.
