Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Jessie Mae Aiken, age 88, of Helen. Mrs. Aiken passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at a private nursing home.
Mrs. Aiken was born in Hall County on June 15, 1922, to the late Herschel P. Cain and Daisy Tankersley Cain. She graduated form Airline High School and went to work for New Holland Mills, where she was employed for some 20 years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, the Rev. James Aiken; son, Dean Aiken; sisters, Gaynell Yopp and Kitty Pilgrim; and brother, Boone Cain.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Nancy Aiken of Helen; daughter-in-law, Dot Aiken of Helen; grandchildren, Jessica and Al Latty, Jim Aiken, Deana and Drew Sanders, Denise and Brian Stilwell.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011, from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Wilkes and the Rev. George Fortner officiating. Interment will follow in the Helen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 16.
