Kenneth Dewayne "Papa Deke" Horton Sr.

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Kenneth Dewayne "Papa Deke" Horton Sr., age 64 of Cleveland. Mr. Horton passed away Thursday, April 07, 2011, at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Cairo, Georgia, on May 17, 1946, Mr. Horton was the son of the late Curtis Lee Horton and Ernestine Phillips Horton. He was a self-employed farmer. He had lived in the area since 1991.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean Walden Horton of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Misty Horton of Cleveland; daughters and sons-in-law, Mellie and Rev. Chad Cantrell of Sautee, Beth and Gene Gibby of Blairsville; sister, Jeri Lisa Horton of Moriches, New York; grandchildren, Nick Palmer, Will Cantrell, Ethan Edwards, Ella Grace Cantrell, Ema Grace Edwards, Hattie Cantrell and Samuel Horton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 from Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 08, 2011, at Alexander Funeral Home, 2721 Highway 129 South, Cleveland.
