George Edward Brooksher

Mr. George Edward Brooksher, age 63, of Dahlonega, GA, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at the Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega, GA following a sudden illness.
Edward was born October 2, 1947. He was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County.
He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Lumpkin County, retired from General Motors on October 1, 1999 after 30 years of service and retired from the Lumpkin County School System on April 1, 2011. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Conflict. He received a Purple Heart for wounds sustained in battle. Edward had a giving heart and had a great love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and family. His priorities were serving the Lord and providing for his family.
Edward was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Brooksher; and a brother, Tim Brooksher.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kathy Brooksher, Dahlonega, GA; sons and daughter-in-law, Billy and Lori Brooksher, Dahlonega, Chris Brooksher, Dahlonega; daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Curtis Dyer, Blairsville, Beth and Patrick Ledford, Dahlonega, Kim and Darrin Chambers, Clermont; grandchildren, Jesse and Will Brooksher, Bailey Brooksher, Sidney Dyer, Julie Moose and John Chambers, Kennedy, Eli, and Emma Ledford; mother, Eva Mae Brooksher; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Sheila Brooksher, Dawsonville, Kenneth and Carolyn Brooksher, Florida, James Brooksher, Ray Gene Brooksher both of Dahlonega; sister-in-law, Teresa Brooksher, Dahlonega; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Terry Bryan, Alaska, Brenda and Lamar Gaddis Dawsonville, Patricia and Larry Rund, Dawsonville, Mary and Danny Grizzle, Dahlonega; mother-in-law, Frances Johnson, Dahlonega; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Anthony and Brenda Reed, Sugar Hill, GA, Pam and Noah Smith, Jefferson, GA. Many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 PM Friday, April 8, 2011, at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega. Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.
Interment will follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 from 6 PM until 9 PM, all day on Thursday, and again on Friday until the time of service.
Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega is in charge of the arrangements.
