Obituary Date: Monday, March 28, 2011
Mr. Bob Waldrop, A kind and generous man, 84 of Gainesville, died March 27, 2011 following an extended illness. He was born in Atlanta, GA on January 13, 1927 to the late Leo F. and Nola McKinley Waldrop.
Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked for many years in the Food Service and Brokerage industry. Later he owned Waldrop Tire Company in Conyers, GA for several years. Following his retirement he was an active member of the Mended Hearts Volunteer Group at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
In addition to his parents Mr. Waldrop is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children: Nell Patrick Waldrop.
He is survived by his wife: Betty Slaton Waldrop of Gainesville, daughters and sons-in-law: Linda W. and Jim Clark of Englewood, FL and Gail and Ricky Geeslin of Conyers, GA, son and daughter-in-law: Patrick and Claudia Waldrop of Carrollton, GA, brother: Jack Waldrop of Peachtree City, GA, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and loving friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30pm Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at New Holland Baptist Church. The Rev. Mike Taylor and Dr. Ricky Thrasher will officiate. Following the service the family will receive friends.
