Thomas Daniel Reid

Obituary Date: Thursday, March 24, 2011
Thomas Daniel Reid, 57, of Westlake Village, CA left us peacefully on March 10, 2011 after a sudden diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Tom was born in Gainesville, GA and is the son of Mamie Rider Reid and the late Kermit Daniel Reid of Cumming, GA. Tom was well traveled and lived in various parts of the U.S. until settling the last 10 years in California.

After attending Georgia State University, Tom began his career in the self adhesive label industry and worked with companies such as Avery, Mactac and Rayven introducing professional development to maximize service quality, long term restructuring of companies, while providing strategic direction and market development in the printing industry. He served as Executive VP of Rayven, Inc, President/CEO of SIHL, USA - North America and currently the President of his consulting firm Coated Solutions, Inc. as well as the Executive Vice President of Catalina Graphic Films in Calabasas Hills, CA. As President of Coated Solutions, Tom performed insightful market research studies and delivered vital consulting services to the paper industry. His various sales, marketing and corporate management positions throughout the years brought a broad perspective and understanding of these markets and their evolution into the current digital world. He was well known throughout the imaging industry for his keen management and administrative skills, while performing business with integrity.

He is survived by his beloved wife Becky (Faix) Reid, the love of his life and safe harbor, of Westlake Village, CA; his mother, Mamie Rider Reid of Cumming, GA; brother, Darrell (Veronica) Reid of Roswell, GA; his son, John Patrick Reid of Minneapolis, MN; his stepdaughters, Melissa Lewis and Christy Hutcheson both of Fort Meyers FL; and his stepson, Scott McDonald of Memphis TN. Tom is also survived by his nephews Daniel Lane (Rebekah) Reid of Dallas, GA and Lance Allen (Ashley) Reid of Gainesville, GA who have two children Elizabeth and Brooklynn.

We will remember his beautiful soft eyes and dimples when he smiled as well as his optimism, his abundance of love, warmth and generosity of heart. If Tom was your friend you knew that you had a friend for life. He loved his family and those who were like family to him and nurtured those relationships. He loved the finer things in life as well as the simple: the finer in cars, fine food and red wine, a great sound system to share music with many close to him: the simple: nature and his little angels who miss him so - his dogs Mitchell and Huey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 26, 2011 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home, followed by a reception. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Bethlehem-Jones Chapel Cemetery in Dahlonega, GA. The family will receive friends and family on Friday, March 25 from 7
