Emma Dean Whitmire

Emma Dean Whitmire, 72, of Dawsonville passed away Friday March 18, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Born June 18, 1938 to the late Bernard and Nellie Martin, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. A homemaker at her death, she was loving and devoted to her family and friends. Emma Dean was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Whitmire; and brothers, Arbin Martin and Hugh Martin.

Surviving are her husband of 54 years, J. C. Whitmire, Dawsonville; sons and daughters in law, David Whitmire and Jennifer Cash, Dawsonville, Dale Whitmire and Teresa Headrick, Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Courtney Headrick, Jennifer Satterfield, Taylor Cash; brothers and sisters in law, C. B. and Dorothy Martin, Dawsonville, William and Betty Martin, Gainesville; sister in law, Betty Martin, Cumming; brothers in law and sisters in law, Ricky and Jeannette Whitmire, Dawsonville, Bobby and Amy Whitmire, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Sunday March 20, 2011 at 2 o'clock at Liberty Baptist Church. Rev. Mitchell Rickett, Rev. Stephen Davis and Rev. Bobby Whitmire will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
