Obituary Date: Saturday, March 12, 2011

Timothy Rea Fetzer, 74, of Gainesville, Ga., passed away on Friday March 11th, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center as a result of injuries received in a recent accident.

Tim was born on June 10th, 1936 in Brookville, Pennsylvania but spent the last 40 plus years as a resident of Gainesville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lucille Fetzer and his only son Rick. He is survived by his three daughters Terri Rasmussen and husband Bob of Pendleton, Oregon, Sheryl Durden and husband Ken of Monroe, Ga., and Karen Stuart and husband Pete of Gray, Ga. He is also survived by his loving mate of 22 years, Linda Smith and her family, Carie, Steve, and Jeff Smith and their four children all of the Gainesville area.

He spent some 50 years in aviation as a pilot initially ferrying aircraft out of Miami, Fla. to Central and South America. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force National Guard and served as a flight instructor. His career included stints with National Airlines, Riddle Airlines and as a Captain for 30 years with Eastern Airlines where he flew the Boeing 757.

Tim was President of his 1954 senior class at Brookville High School in Brookville, Pennsylvania. Since childhood he has supported the Bowdish Display in Brookville where he was recently honored with the naming of the display room in his honor. Probably the thing that gave him the most pleasure was spoiling grandchildren.
