James Lawrence Major

James Lawrence Major, 69 of Jasper, Ga. formerly of Gainesville died Thursday March 10, 2011 at the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Born in Hall County, Mr. Major had lived in Jasper for a couple of years. He was the son of the late Homer and Fay Tullis Major. He was retired from Tunco Manufacturing Co. and had also worked for a number of years at the Arrow Tire Company in Gainesville.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law; Janice and Donnie Allison, Flowery Branch; granddaughter and husband; Lisa and Andrew Southerland, Gainesville; grandson, David Allison, Flowery Branch; great granddaughter; Molly Southerland, Gainesville; sisters and brothers-in-law; Louise and Jimmy Garner, Mableton; Frances and Jackie Nolan, Gainesville; brothers and sisters-in-law; Horace and Jean Majors, Macon; Wayne and Cathy Majors; Cumming; brother, Billy Major, Jasper. a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Major is preceded in death by his wife; Willene Norris Major and a brother, Herman Major

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday March 13, 2011 in the Mason & Ward Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Sunday March 13, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers tha family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 2565 Thompson Bridge Road, Suite 114, Gainesville, Ga. 30501
