Buford M. Smith

Mr. Buford M. Smith, age 77 of Oakwood, GA passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, March 12, 2011 at West Hall Baptist Church with interment to follow at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Dr. Mike Reynolds will officiate. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday March 11, 2011 at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born in Greensboro, GA and was the son of the late Fletcher Lee Smith and Eula (Channell) Smith. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of West Hall Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and head usher. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Butler) Smith of Oakwood; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Audrey Smith of Flowery Branch; daughters and sons-in-law, Robyn and Ralph Moore of Gainesville; Charlene and Wayne Alewine of Flowery Branch; daughter, Tracy Lynn Smith of Gainesville; daughter and fiancé, Dana Smith and Don Adams of Oakwood; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Joey Wilson of Panama City Beach, Florida; twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, seven sisters and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the West Hall Baptist Church building fund, 5314 McEver Rd. Oakwood, GA 30566.
