Lovadia Etta Chastain Gerrin

Lovadia Etta Chastain Gerrin, age 83, of Cornelia, GA, passed away Thursday, March 03, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born on August 22, 1927, in Habersham County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Lester Chastain and Julie Holcomb Chastain. Mrs. Gerrin was a life-long resident of Habersham County and was of the Baptist faith.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the VFW and the American Legion. Mrs. Gerrin was a well known babysitter who enjoyed dancing and watching wrestling.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Gerrin; sister, Ethel Dale; brother, Mack Key.

Survivors include daughters, Barbara Poss of Anchorage, AK and Kathy Sosebee both of Cornelia; sons, James Gerrin, Harold Gerrin, Larry Gerrin, Ricky Gerrin and Randy Gerrin all of Cornelia; brothers, Herchel Key and Ernest Key both of Mt. Airy; sister, Hazel Scroggs of Eastanollee; sisters-in-law, Gaynell Powell of Niceville, FL and Ruby Benton of Tarobor, NC; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.

Funeral services are 11 am Monday, March 07, 2011 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Johnny Scroggs officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 pm on Saturday and from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Sunday.
