Mr. Johnny Garner, age 63, of Dahlonega, GA, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his home with his family at his bedside.
Mr. Garner was a native and former longtime resident of Forsyth County, GA. He had lived in Lumpkin County for the past eight years. He was a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church in Lumpkin County and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a retired drywall contractor and also worked at American Proteins for several years.
He was the son of the late Johnny Henry Garner and Ester Payne Garner and was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Smith.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Glenda Carol Garner, Dahlonega, GA; children and spouses, John Ty Garner, James and Stacey Garner, and John H. Garner, all of Lumpkin County; grandchildren, Autumn and Gabe White, Jake and Beth Garner; 2 great-grandchildren, Kaleigh and Kaden; 4 step grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jr. and Lorel Garner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Novelene and T.W. Butler, Christine and Cecil Reeves, all of Forsyth County, Juanita and Hartwell Lovell, Oakwood, GA; brother-in-law, Herman Smith, Forsyth County. Numerous other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Garner are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, March 4, 2011, at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.
Rev. Cecil Reeves and Rev. Ruel Martin will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Thursday, March 3rd, 2011 from 6 PM until 9 PM and again on Friday, March 4th, 2011 until the time of service.
Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega is in charge of the arrangements.
