Mr. Hugh P. Minor, Jr., 80 of Gainesville died Monday February 28, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Hall County, Hugh was the son of the late Hugh P. and Lois Martin Minor. He retired from the United States Air Force with 20 years of service, he also worked for Lockheed as a supervisor for a number of years and was affiliated with Ray Paul Enterprises. Mr. Minor volunteered at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center and was a graduate of Riverbend High School. Mr. Minor was a member of the South Bend United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his sons, Hugh P. Minor, III, Athens, Ga., Ron L. Minor, Las Vegas, NV, son and daughter-in-law; Gerald L. and Carolyn Minor, Lawrenceville,, Ga., daughter, Michelle Minor, Snellville, Ga., son, Mike K. Minor, Gainesville, Ga., grandchildren; Caleb Minor, Nathaniel Minor, Thomas Minor, Remo Minor, Reyma Minor, Maria and Ivory Gates, Jessica Minor. great grandchildren, Sean and Jazmyn Gates. brother and sister-in-law; Henry and Margaret Minor, Cleveland, Ga.; sister, Olivia Minor Whelchel, Gainesville, Ga.; sister-in-law; Pat Minor, Gainesville, Ga.; special friend, Glenn Esposito, Powder Springs, Ga., a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Minor is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Lorraine Martin Minor, brother, Everett Minor and brother-in-law; Ben Whelchel.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday March 3, 2011 at the South Bend United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Long will officiate with interment to follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. The body will lie in state at the church Thursday from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Wednesday March 2, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions please be made to the Hospice of Northeast Georgia, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
