Ann was a first generation Italian American who fell in love with and married a Navy man in 1946. She loved the military life. She enjoyed the military community and made life long friends with many military families. When Roy retired from the Navy in 1968 they made their home in the mountains of North Georgia, where Ann and Roy fell in love with the local community and made many special friendships. She worked for a short period in the local mills and was a substitute teacher, but mostly stayed involved in many community and church organizations where she loved helping the elderly, sick, and less fortunate families. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church since 1968 and was a volunteer at the local Sharing and Caring organization since it began. She also volunteered at both of the Habersham Nursing Homes and at the hospital. She loved participating in organizations where she could see the direct impact that a caring community has on its local citizens. She was an avid swimmer all her life and could be seen at the local Clarkesville community pool doing her laps well into her 80's. She loved to travel and made many trips throughout the United States and to Europe, Asia, Central America and Australia. She and Roy had a van and travel trailer that they used to visit most states and Canada. She made numerous trips to Italy where she kept in touch with many of her relatives and practiced her birth language. She traveled to Vicksburg, Mississippi twice a year for month long visits with her sons. She made many friends in Vicksburg and spent many happy hours in a bass boat on the Mississippi River with a fishing pole in her hands. She was always energetic, on the go and looking forward to the next adventure. She was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, sister and friend and will be greatly missed.
