Carolyn Joyner Embry

Carolyn Joyner Embry passed away February 12, 2011 at 91 years old. She was born December 3, 1919 and was the 5th of 10 children of the Lillian Howard and William Hugh Joyner, Sr. family.
She retired as 2nd Vice President at Fulton Federal Savings and Loan. She was a Director of Personnel, Business Development, and a Branch Manager during her lengthy career. She was active in the Atlanta Woman's Chamber of Commerce heading up Downtown Beautification from 1964 to 1966 and she was the member of the year in 1966, one of her many accommodations she received.
A 1938 graduate of Commercial High, Mrs. Embry also earned many financial degrees and was a board member of the Institute of Financial Education and past president. She served on numerous boards including Doctors Hospital, Stone Mountain Industrial Park, Atlanta Area Tech, and past president of the Tucker Business Association.
She was active for many years at Grace United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia where she was on the Administrative Board and Board of Trustees, a past president of the Charles Hope Sunday School Class along with many other positions.
Mrs. Embry had resided for the past several years at Magnolia Hills Assisted Living in Demorest, GA but still maintained a residence in Cleveland, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband George D. Embry, Sr. and a son Daniel Garland Embry. She is survived by sister Margaret Tucker of Albany, brother Wm. H. Joyner, Jr. of Alpharetta, sons and daughters in law Mr. and Mrs. George D. Embry of Ball Ground and Mr. and Mrs. William D. Embry of Cleveland, as well as seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
