Marjorie Ferguson Pierce, age 82, of Gainesville, GA passed away Thursday, February 10, 2011, at New Horizons West Nursing Home following a long illness. Ms. Pierce died from complications of Alzheimers.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. The Reverend Jentezen Franklin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:30 to 8:30 pm Friday, February 11, 2011 at the funeral home.
Ms. Pierce was married for 54 years to the late Herbert R. Pierce. Together they founded Pierce Wholesale Company in 1948. Mr. and Mrs. Pierce were also charter members of the Free Chapel Church, and had helped to organize the church in the 1950's. She had served as secretary and bookkeeper of Free Chapel and of their family business during the early years of their marriage. Ms. Pierce was a kind, quiet, loving mother and grandmother. Her gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, A.Z. Ferguson and Cleo Armour Ferguson; sister Bernice Ferguson Morris; brother, Gene Ferguson.
She is survived by her 3 sons and their wives, David and Elaine Pierce, Duane and Donna Pierce, Stan and Christy Pierce, all of Gaineville. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Brandon Pierce, Brenton Pierce, Marty Pierce, Lori Pugh, Bethany Scott, Hillary Arant, and Kristen Pierce and 5 great-grandchildren, Erica Pierce, Corder Pierce, Morgan Pierce, Hannah Pierce and Kinsey Arant. She is survived by her sisters, Ms. Doris Gillespie, Gainesville; and Ms. Bonnie Terrell, Arkansas; brothers, Randy Ferguson, and Junior Ferguson of Gainesville and Harold Ferguson of McDonough, GA;
