Steve William Hilton

Funeral services for Steve William Hilton, age 86 of Clarkesville will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 11, 2011 from the Hills Crossing Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Mr. Hilton passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born November 13, 1924 in Towns County, Mr. Hilton was the son of the late Andrew C. and Era Bella Cloure Hilton. Mr. Hilton was a retired engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was a United States Army WWII veteran having served with the 1st Company, 3rd Battalion, 134th Regiment, that were among the first to storm upon the beaches at Normandy. Mr. Hilton was a member and a Deacon Emeritus at Hills Crossing Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hilton is preceded in death by son Michael Hilton, infant sisters Ruth and Linda Hilton, sisters Edith Curtis and Reba Cantrell, sister and brother in law Mabel and Al Noblet, brother Rex Hilton, and brother in law Charles Means.

Survivors include daughters and sons in law Debra and Keith Dean and Sandra and Johnny Sosebee of Clarkesville, brothers and sisters in law Bob and Shirley Hilton of Clarkesville, Jack and Beckie Hilton of Toccoa, sister Margie Means of Toccoa, sisters and brothers in law Dorothy and Carroll Irvin of Mt. Airy, Betty and Marvis Marlowe of Atlanta, Peggy and Huck Lemkowitv of Texas, sister in law Alice Hilton of Sautee, brother in law Herschel Cantrell of Cornelia, grandchildren Kobey Dean, Keylia Patton and husband Seth, Jonathan Sosebee, and Emily Sosebee, and great grandchildren Anna, Karan, and Kristen Dean.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to Hills Crossing Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1142, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
