Fred Wilton Blackburn

Fred Wilton Blackburn, age 83 of Alto, GA. passed away February 05, 2011, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Habersham County on November 24, 1927, he was the son of the late Tyre Sidney and Lillie Mae Shirley Blackburn. Mr. Blackburn was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon Emeritus, and formerly served as a deacon at B.C. Grant Baptist Church. He was also a member of K.I.T. Retirees of Ethicon. He was retired from Ethicon with over 46 years of service as an engineering supervisor and he enjoyed his farm. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death a son, Ronald Wilton Blackburn, brothers, Waymon Blackburn, Garnett Blackburn, Lewis Blackburn, Floyd Blackburn, and sisters, Violet Fleming and Ola Mae Penick.

He was the last member of his immediate family.

Surviving are his wife Annette Davis Blackburn of the home, daughter & son-in-law Janice B. and Garland Riner of Milledgeville; son & daughter-in-laws, Fred Terry & Brenda Blackburn, Shawn Davis and Joni Blackburn all of Alto; grandchildren, Rob Blackburn, Donna Galloway, Jason Blackburn, Bart Blackburn, Kelly Riner, Meredith Riner, Ashley Blackburn, Kiley Blackburn, Sydney Blackburn; great grandchildren, Hannah Galloway, Sadie Galloway, Lily Galloway, Seth Blackburn, Gabe Blackburn, Madison Blackburn, Caleb Blackburn, Austin Blackburn, Brooke Blackburn.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 07, 2011 from Hazel Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Trent Smith, Jim Blackburn and one of his grandsons officiating. Interment will follow in B.C. Grant Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 & 7-9 pm on Sunday.
