Hazel G. Henson

Hazel G. Henson, age 84, a long-time resident of Clayton, Georgia, died Thursday, February 3, 2011, after an extended illness.
A native of Chickamauga, Georgia, she is survived by her husband of 60 years, C.A. Henson, by her sister, Mrs. Hugh McKee, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Claudia Lee Henson.
Mrs. Henson was a graduate of Gordon Lee High School, Young Harris College, and Appalachian State Teachers College. Her career as a math teacher began at Young Harris College. She later taught in Williston, South Carolina, and at Rabun County High School until her retirement.
She was an active member of Clayton United Methodist Church, where she served in many leadership roles. For many years she served as Chairman of Rabun County Family and Children Services.
Visitation will be held at Beck Funeral Home, Sunday, February 6, 2011 from 4 PM until 9 PM, with services to be held Monday, February 7, 2011 at 11 AM in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Hal Brady and Rev. Charles Green officiating. Interment will follow at Rabun Memory Park.
