Mary F. Bates

Mary F. Bates, 63 of Lula, Ga. died Wednesday February 2, 2011 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Born in Murphy, North Carolina, Ms. Bates had lived in Hall County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Bonnie Burrell King and Lonnie King. She worked as a waitress for a number of years at the Georgianna Resturant and also had worked as an aid at Autumn Breeze Assisted Living. Ms. Bates was a member of Lula Assembly of Praise.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law; Subrina M. Turk and John Turk, Lula; Linda P. Cary and Rodney Cary, Gillsville; son, Clifton Boyd Bates, Glennville, Ga., grandchildren; Luther Thomas Turk, Johnathan Gilstrap, Rose Turk, Katrina Turk and Elizabeth Pittman, all of Lula; Benjamin Bates, Doraville; Kristal Bates, Gillsville. sister, Sue Banks, Doraville; brother, Paul King, Cumming. a number of neices, nephews and other extended family.
Ms. Bates is preceded in death by a son, Julius Matthew Bates; brothers, David King and Melvin King.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday February 5, 2011 at the Lula Assembly of Praise. Rev. Milton Martin, Jr. and Rev. Clarence Reynolds will officiate. Interment will follow in the Whitehall Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Mason & Ward Funeral Home, Friday February 4, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again Saturday February 5, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Lula Assembly of Praise.
