Walter Mark Smith

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Walter Mark Smith, age 43 of Helen. Mr. Smith passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Smith was born on February 3, 1967 to Terry Smith and Susan Cantrell. He was a self-employed painter. He loved the beach, computers, classic rock music and his dogs, Pepsi, Taz and Maggie. He enjoyed having the opportunity to positively influence people who were facing tough life decisions.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Denise Smith of Helen; daughters Kaylyn Smith of Acworth; Jordyn Smith of Helen; stepsons Shane and Alicia Fortner of Dahlonega; Taylor McTaggart of Helen; Jordan Fortner of Cleveland; mother and stepfather Susan and Eddie Caneup of Acworth; father and stepmother Terry and Eugenia Smith of Woodstock; sister Keri Smith of Acworth;Grandfather Harvey Cantrell of Kennesaw; mother-in-law Mary Boston of Dahlonega; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and additional relatives.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 31, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. A Celebration of Life ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 2pm from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Wilkes, John McKay and David McKay officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah View Memorial Gardens.
