Phillips (P.) Parks Duncan

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Phillips (P.) Parks Duncan, age 78, of Cleveland. Mr. Duncan passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.Mr. Duncan was born on May 14, 1932 in Orlando, Florida to the late Buell J. and Elizabeth Parks Duncan. He was employed as a financial consultant and vice-president Merrill-Lynch. He was very active in his community and served as President of the Central Florida Stock & Bond club in 1970, President of the Orlando Kiwanis Club in 1972, Chairman of the Orlando Civil Service Board in 1973, on the Board of Governors of the Florida Securities Dealers Association in 1973, President of the Clearwater, Florida Chamber of Commerce in 1976, on the Board of Directors for the Mease Hospital Foundation in 1977, on the Board of Directors for the Atlanta-branch of the Salvation Army in 1981, President of the Georgia Securities Association in 1989, and President of the Cherokee Town & Country Club in 1992. He was a member of the White County Rotary Club and was an avid ham radio operator. Mr. Duncan was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where he served as Chairman of the Finance Committee and Chairman of the Ushers Committee. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife, Betty Hinkle Duncan of Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law P. Parks Duncan, Jr. and Regina Duncan of Orlando, Florida; Douglas and Lori Duncan of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; David and Margaret Duncan of Jonesboro; daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Ted Chapman of Orlando, Florida; as well as 10 grandchildren.Memorial Mass is scheduled for Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11 am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Vincent Sullivan officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
