Bryant W. "Tex" Smith

Mr. Bryant W. "Tex" Smith, Sr., age 82, of Elberton, formerly of Cumming, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011. Mr. Smith was born January 18, 1929 in DeQueen, AR and moved to Cumming in 1956 where he owned and operated Tex Smith Auto. He moved to Elberton in 1981 and was a member of Concord United Methodist Church in Elberton, Chamblee-Sardis Lodge #444 F&AM and Yaarab Shrine. Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Smith; a son, Bryant W. Smith, Jr.; a grandson, Kevin Garner; a sister, Betty Jo Malone and a brother, Dub Smith.



Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Billie and Johnny Cooper of Royston, Sharon Self of Elberton, Barbara and David Pelt of Jackson, Debra and Rick Dowling of Cumming; a sister, Amilee Seelig of Bryan , TX; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held Monday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. David Gattis officiating. Interment, with Masonic Rites, will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.



The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
