Mr. Vernon Dale Grogan, Sr., 84 of Gainesville died Monday January 17, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Kokomo, Indiana, Mr. Grogan had lived in Hall County for most of his life. He was the son of the late Marvin and Almedia Hamby Grogan. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Atlantic Theatre on the U.S.S. Winslow. Mr. Grogan was employed by Milliken where he was part of the management team from 1946 until 1991.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Smith Grogan, Gainesville; Son, Dale Grogan, Atlanta; Sister-in-law, Sue Smith, Gainesville; and a number of nieces, nephews and special friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in the Mason & Ward Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Davis Chappell will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
