Faye Shope Whitmire

Faye Shope Whitmire, age 71 of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center from a brief illness.

A Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel of Gainesville. The family will receive friends 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday, January 17, 2011 at the funeral home.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Whitmire and she was the daughter of the late John Byrd and Roxanna Goudelock Shope. She was a native and lifetime resident of Gainesville and Hall County; and also a 1958 graduate of North Hall High School. She is retired from Peach State Trucking Line of Gainesville.

Faye enjoyed spending time with her many friends, family and especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Janice Davidson of Gainesville; Dee Ann Davidson Roesel and husband Paul of Statesboro, GA; One son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Kim Davidson, Jr. of Gainesville. Six great-grandchildren, Kelli Herrington, Stanley Davidson, III., Devon Brannon, Chris Davidson, Seth Roesel and Madison Roesel and four great-grandchildren. Brothers and sister include J.B. Shope Jr. and wife Mary Jo, W.F. (Dick) Shope, Imogene Barnes, Lillian Gilreath, Margaret Murphy all of Gainesville; Mary Whelchel and husband Jimmy of Blairsville, Annie Kemp Wheeler, Estelle Shope of Tucson, AZ.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to be made to South Bend United Methodist Church of Gainesville, GA 3512 Clarks Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA 30506.
