Mary Belle Winkler Reid

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Mary Belle Winkler Reid, age 93 of Cleveland. Mrs. Reid passed away Sunday, January 09, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Friday, January 14, 2011 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Reecer officiating. Private interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Reid was born in White County on July 25, 1917 to the late Joseph Benjamin Winkler and Cona Satterfield Winkler. Mrs. Reid served some 15 years as a Missionary in Rhodesia, Africa, afterwards returning to teach school in Hall County. In 1970, she moved to Melbourne, Florida where she was a Professor of Literature at Brevard Community College. Following her retirement in 2003, Mrs. Reid moved back to White County, where she was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pat Reid, sister, Agnes Mildred Winkler Turner and brothers, Herman Winkler and J.B. Winkler.

Mrs. Reid is survived by her niece, Margaret Turner of Cleveland, nephew Richard Harkins, of Cleveland as well as a host of nieces, nephews, additional relatives and many friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6pm to 8pm
