Charles Preston King, age 65 of Baldwin, passed away Friday, January 07, 2011, at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born in Hall County on September 01, 1945, he was the son of the late Sandy and Lurlene Thompson King. Mr. King was employed with Fieldale Farms and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Doris Lewis Rylee.
Surviving are wife, Brenda Joyce King of Baldwin; daughter, Angela Hope King Ballew of Clarkesville; step daughter, Camilla Dawn Cook Rumsey of Alto; sons, Rodney Preston King and Jeffery Shane King both of Baldwin; sister, Grace King Hogsed of Toccoa; grandchildren, Alex Preston King, Jacob Lawrence King, Camilla Dawn Rumsey and Walter Reed Ballew III; great grandchild, Aubrey Preston King; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 09, 2011 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Sanford Kimbrell officiating. Interment will follow in Baldwin City Cemetery with Rev. Luther Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Saturday.
