Emma Lou Stevens Shuman, age 87 of Gainesville, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at The Oaks at Limestone Assisted Living Home following a sudden illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, January 7, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Mark Hutchins will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 6, 2011, from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Shuman was born April 10, 1923, in Gainesville, Georgia, to the late Claude Stevens and Rozzie Wingo Stevens. She retired from Zeemans Manufacturing as a seamstress and was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. Mrs. Shuman was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jessie Shuman, her son, Michael Shuman, step-son, Jessie Shuman, Jr., sisters, Gladys Stephens, Grace Allison, Claudine Reese and Maybelle Wallace and brother, John Joseph "Bud" Stevens.
Mrs. Shuman is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Bradley Lawson of Gainesville and Susan and David Seaton of Jackson, Tennessee, step-son, Thomas Shuman of Gainesville, step-daughter, Lillian Daniels of Summerville, Georgia, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
