Ireta Nix Franklin

Ireta Nix Franklin, age 91 passed away January 1, 2011 at a nursing facility in Demorest.

She was born in Cleveland, Georgia on April 28, 1919 to Andrew and Zona Cox Nix. She moved to Habersham County at an early age and resided most of her life in Clarkesville, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband Guy Franklin.

She was the oldest member of Glade Creek Baptist Church and served in many capacities of the church, teaching Sunday School classes also Bible School every summer. She loved teaching children and they loved her. She devoted her time to community service, especially where children were involved.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at 11:00 AM from the Glade Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 5495 Highway 197 South, Clarkesville, on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 6-8 PM.
