Mr. Robert Willie Davenport was born on December 15, 1940 In Jefferson Georgia to the late Rosa Mae Phillips and Mr. Otis Davenport. He departed this life, Monday January 3, 2011.
He was preceded in death by Rosa Mae Phillips, his father Otis Davenport, and a brother James Edward Ivory; Sisters: Betty Ann Hughey, Ora L Adams, and Patricia Davenport. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Constance Davenport. He graduated from Bryan Hill High School in Jefferson Georgia in 1960. He joined the Paradise A.M.E. Church in Jefferson Georgia at an early age. He faithfully attended First Baptist Church in Gainesville, Georgia and retired from the Hall County School System after 34 years of service in 2005. He was also self employed for 30 years in sanitation. Robert was a member of the American Legion post 328 and the Masonic Lodge 66 of Gainesville Georgia and served 4 years in the US Army.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife Malbree Davenport, three brothers Rev. Donald (Zealine) Davenport, Talmadge (Fannie) Davenport, and Tony (Lurina) Wilson. He also leaves behind a host of children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00p.m. Thursday January 6 at Paradise A.M.E. Church. The Rev. Issac Whitehead will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 12:00 pm to 1:00pm at the church. The family will receive friends from 7:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
