Ferd Dorsey Wilbanks

Ferd Dorsey Wilbanks, age 94 of Alto, passed away on Saturday, January 01, 2011, at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.

Born in Banks County Georgia on August, 14 1916, he was the son of the late W.F. and Mary Stewart Wilbanks. Mr. Wilbanks had previously worked as a dump truck driver for the Habersham County Road Department and was member of Mud Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilbanks was also preceded in death by his wife, Mellie Jo Cragg Wilbanks and numerous brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 03, 2011 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin-Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in Mud Creek Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 pm on Sunday.
