Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. S. J. Bryant, age 89, of Pendergrass, GA, who passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010. Mr. Bryant was born on April 28, 1921, a son to the late Charlie and Julie Phillips Bryant. Mr. Bryant was retired from the Jefferson Mills, the John Manville Company and was a member of the Jackson County Baptist Church. Mr. Bryant was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII, and was a POW in Stalag 4B. Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Campbell Bryant, grandson, Eric Hogan, brothers, Roosevelt, Garth, Otis, C.H., Lillious, Lester and Ellis, and his sisters, Evon, Reba, Juanita and Florence.
Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Pat and Darrell Hogan, Pendergrass, brother, Julian Bryant, South Carolina, granddaughter and husband, Jennifer and Tony Jones, Sebastian, FL, great granddaughter, Kristen Jones.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 2:00pm in the White Plains Baptist Church with Dr. Jack Lawson, Dr. Keith Cudd and Rev. Kevin Page officiating. The burial will follow in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with Tony Jones, Dave Farrow, Tommy Healan, Clay Wilson, Charlie White, James Scroggs, Danny Hogan and Charles Taylor honored as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
