John Thurston Woody

John Thurston Woody, age 74 of Clarkesville, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 13, 1936, he was the son of the late Milton John and Doris Woody. Mr. Woody was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was retired from the construction industry. In his early years one of his hobbies was building and racing stock cars with his friends. In more recent years he enjoyed sports, especially the Braves and Falcons.
Surviving are wife, Ellen Elizabeth Woody of Clarkesville, GA; daughter, Deborah Hernandez of Sheridan, Wyoming; sons, Thomas Woody of Boseman, Montana, John M. Woody of Oxford, GA, and Terry Woody of Marietta, GA; step son, Jeremy Woody of Atlanta, GA; sister, Rose Woody of Alaska; brothers, Hugh Woody of Des Moines, Iowa and Ken Woody of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Jill Duncan, Thomas David Woody, Ryan Hernandez, Falicia Woody and Abbygail Woody.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 205 Dennis Cash Road, Mt. Airy, GA 30563, with Bishop Daryl Smith officiating.
