Rosie Lee Holtzclaw, 84, of Dawsonville died Thursday December 16, 2010 at her residence.
Born November 3, 1926 in Spartanburg, SC to the late L.B. and Lillie Mae Pruitt, she had been a resident of Dawson County for 20 years having moved from Forsyth County. A homemaker at her death, for many years she worked as a cook at restaurants in Forsyth and Dawson Counties until her retirement at the age of 72. Rosie Lee was a loving mother and grandmother and attended Holy Grounds Tabernacle. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ford Holtzclaw; daughter, Lillie Rebeccah Holtzclaw; sisters, Louise Strickland, Linda Patrick; brothers, Theodore Pruitt, Larry Pruitt; and a son in law, Thomas Castleberry.
Surviving are her children, Betty Castleberry, Canton, Martha and Larry Pope, Dawsonville, Dennis Holtzclaw and Adrea Templeman, Jacksonville, FL, Jimmy and Pamela Holtzclaw, Cumming; sisters, Juanita Smith, Marietta, Lottie Armor, Chamblee; brother, Rev. Samuel J. Pruitt, Nelson, GA; 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and a number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday December 19, 2010 at 2 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tony Holtzclaw, Rev. Michael Patrick and Rev. Preston Collett will officiate. Interment will follow in the Coal Mountain Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
