James Marvin Williams

Obituary Date: Thursday, December 16, 2010
James Marvin Williams, age 89, of Milledgeville, Georgia, formerly of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2010.



Mr. Williams was born on December 19, 1920, in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Walter and Dovie Harvey Williams. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Skelton Williams and his brother, Harold Williams. Mr. Williams was a United States Army Veteran having proudly served in World War II in the 126th Infantry, receiving a Purple Heart. He owned and operated Mountain View Nursery for a number of years. Mr. Williams was a life member of Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post #7720 and Rabun County DAV Chapter #15. He was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Toccoa, Georgia.



Survivors include his son, James Larry Williams, Olathe, Kansas; brothers, Ed Williams and Loyd Williams, both of Toccoa, GA; 3 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Roy G. Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Toccoa, Georgia with full military honors provided by the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15, the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, and the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post #7720.



The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
