Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Helen S. Kinney, age 91, of Griffin, formerly of Jefferson, who passed away on Friday, December 3, 2010.

Mrs. Kinney was born on March 23, 1919 in Clarke County,GA to the late William Henry Spratlin and the late Ida Rose Baxter Spratlin. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson, GA and was an avid member of the Esther Circle and ladies quilting group there for many years. She was a graduate of the Martin Institute in Jefferson, class of 1936.

Mrs. Kinney was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert D. Kinney, and nine brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her son and spouse, Hugh D. and Brenda Kinney of Gainesville, daughter and spouse, Marie K. and Larry Stover of Griffin, daughter, Carol K. Cannon of Griffin, grandchildren and spouses, Hugh,Jr. and Jeni Kinney, Ross and Jenn Cannon, Stacey K. and Greg Beasley, John and Bess Stover, great grandchildren Matt Kinney, Lauren Kinney, Julie Beasley, Karen Beasley, Hattie Stover and Henry Stover.

Funeral service will be Saturday December 11, 2010 at 12:00 pm in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with Rev. Mike Schmid officiating. The visitation will be held on Saturday December 11, 2010 from 10:00 am to service time. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 188 Martin St., Jefferson, GA 30549.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Brightmoor Nursing Center and Brightmoor Hospice,Griffin, for the loving care she received.
