William Arthur Lyman

Obituary Date: Monday, December 6, 2010
William Arthur Lyman, 78, of Alpharetta, GA died on December 5, 2010 at Embracing Hospice House. Born in Minneapolis, MN, he was the son of the late John and Gladys Lyman.

Bill served in the US Army and spent his career as a chef. He served as Grand Commander of The Honorable Order of the Golden Toque; on the Certification Committee of the American Federation of Chefs; and was a member of the American Academy of Chefs. Bill was a Stephen Minister at Cumming First United Methodist Church and was a Master Gardener in Forsyth County.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Lyman of Alpharetta, GA; daughter, Julie (Sean) O'Connor of Canton, GA; son, Scott (Kathryn) Lyman of Ishbeming, MI; brother, John (June) Lyman of Hutchinson, MN; and much loved grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, Courtney, Zachary, Rylie and Colby.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Cumming First United Methodist Church. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception following the service. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Georgia National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org or 800.272.3900) or The Honorable Order of the Golden Toque Scholarship Fund (www.orderofthegoldentoque.org).
