George W. Hart, Jr.,

George W. Hart, Jr., 83, of 61 Turkey Creek Road, Carnesville, GA, passed away peacefully at his home, Wednesday morning, December 1, 2010.

Born January 30, 1927, in the Ashland Community of Franklin County, he was the son of the late George W. and Mildred Louise Williams Hart, Sr. and was the brother of the late Betty Jo McWilliams. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a supervisor with Lakewood General Motors from 1948 until retirement in 1985. He served as mayor of Stockbridge, GA for 10 years. Since moving back to Franklin County he was co-owner of the Young At Heart personal care home in Carnesville, GA. He was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church, of Carnesville.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Nesmith Hart; four children, and daughter and son-in-laws, Barry and Katherine Hart, Social Circle, GA; Laura and Doug Richardson, McDonough , GA, Lilja and Mike Kitchens, Jackson, GA, and Leandra and Tom Goleniak, Canton, MI; two brothers and sister-in-laws, William O. and Evelyn Hart and Michael and Betty Hart, both of Carnesville; four sisters and brother-in-laws, Peggy and William Cothran, Carnesville, Arline and Tom Gilley, Tyler, Texas, Ruth and Ron Reed, Villa Park, CA, and Nancy Hart, Commerce, GA; and twelve grandchildren.

Services will be 3pm Friday afternoon at the B. D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Jones officiating. Internment will be the Franklin Memorial Gardens.

The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3pm Friday afternoon at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome, but those wishing to make memorials please do so to the Cross Roads Baptist Church, Carnesville, GA 30521.
