Robert C. "Mac" McCracken

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2010 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home for Robert C. "Mac" McCracken, 85, of Gainesville. Interment will be in Chestatee Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Cecil Reeves, Rev. Franklin Grant and Rev. David Skinner will officiate. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 30 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born in Lakemont, GA on November 28, 1925 he was the son of the late Robert Clayton and Lola Shirley McCracken. Mr. McCracken was a decorated WWII Veteran; he served his country in the European Theatre and fought in four major battles. He was retired from the G.B.I. as a special agent in charge of Region 8. After retirement he served 4 years as a Deputy U.S. Marshall.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Aaron Pirkle and Patsy and Michael Ragone both of Gainesville, 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
