James Byron Freeman

James Byron Freeman, 88, of Gainesville passed away Saturday November 13, 2010 at the Bell Minor Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 16, 2010 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 2pm-4pm and 5pm-9pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Freeman was born in Smokemount NC to the late John E. Freeman and Julia Conner Freeman. He was of the Methodist Faith. Mr. Freeman served in the United States Army. He is preceded in death by his son, Johnny Freeman.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Daris Freeman of Gainesville, daughter, Kay Mitchum of Gainesville, son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Linda Sullins of Clarkesville, son and daughter-in-law, Freddie and Carolyn Sullins of Flowery Branch, son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Mary Sullins of Gainesville, son, James Freeman of Asheville NC, son, Charles Freeman of Asheville NC, son, Thomas Freeman of Asheville NC, daughter, Patsy Freeman of Asheville NC, a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, niece, Betty Roberts, and nephew, Donald McCampbell special friend Georgiana Knurr of Maryville TN
