Mildred Alice Wood

Mildred Alice Wood, age 84 of Clarkesville, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born in Habersham County on January 06, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Arlin and Zollie Sutherland Mize. Mrs. Wood was a homemaker, member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church and she enjoyed cooking. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Swain Wood; daughter, Linda Smith; brothers, Junior Mize and Granville Mize and granddaughter, Wendy Rowden.
Surviving are daughters, Carolyn Barron of Clarkesville, Brenda Ballew of Cornelia, Betty Tench of Demorest and Leah Smith also of Clarkesville; sons, Kenneth Wood of Cornelia and Phillip Wood and Tommy Wood both of Clarkesville; sisters, Rosalyn Riddly of Valdosta and Barbara Holcomb of Waycross; grandchildren, Robin Pearson, Adam Tench, Jason Tench, Scott Shirley, Christy Gosnell, Billy Henson, Blake Barron, Bryan Barron, Kay Loudermilk, Cody Smith, Logan Smith, Mike Wood, Dean Wood, Brandi Clark, Cela Oudom; great grandchildren, Lance Pearson, Corey Pearson, Josh Pearson, Lila Tench, Will Tench, Liam Tench, Jasa Tench, Tiffany Shirley, Brandon Shirley, Drew Gosnell, Lindsey Gosnell, Kristen Barron, Aiden Barron, Tristin Barron, Bella Barron, Chase Loudermilk, Zach Wood, Dylan Clark, Taylor Clark, Noah Oudom, Noelle Oudom.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Monday, November 15, 2010 from the McGahee-Griffin-Stewart Chapel with Rev. Tony Goss and Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 pm on Sunday. The family is at the residence of daughter, Leah Smith, 215 Sutton Mill Rd, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
