Leroy Harrison Allen

Mr. Leroy Harrison Allen, 81 of Gainesville died Sunday October 31, 2010 .

A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mr. Allen was the son of the late George and Elsie Miller Allen. He was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School and was retired from Chicopee Manufacturing Company with 49 years of service. Mr. Allen was also a member and deacon of the Lakewood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bowles Allen, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law; Nicole and Josh Thompson, Braselton; sons and daughters-in-law; Carroll and Barbara Allen, Lawrenceville; Ronald and Dyan Allen, Cumming; Randy and Lynn Allen, Chicopee; daughter and son-in-law; Debbie and David Fontenot, Buford; son, John Strickland, Buford; sister and brother-in-law; Ann and Willis Williams, Gainesville; sister, Virginia Cornelison, Gainesville; brothers and sisters-in-law; George W. and Chris Allen, Hiawassee; Roger and Carolyn Allen, Gainesville; 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday November 3, 2010 at the Lakewood Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Tom Smiley, Rev. Don Ormsbee and the Rev. Dr. Jerry Gill will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church Wednesday November 3, 2010 from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Tuesday November 2, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

The family has asked that the deacons of Lakewood Baptist Church serve as honorary pallbearers and please assemble at the church by 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lakewood Baptist Church, 2235 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville, Ga. 30501.
