Mary Webb Tyner

Obituary Date: Monday, October 18, 2010
Mrs. Mary Webb Tyner, retired elementary school teacher of 38 years, passed away , Monday, October 18, 2010, at Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega, Georgia.

Mary was born July 10th, 1912 in Springfield, Missouri, to parents, Frank Winfield Webb and Roselle Bell Webb. At a young age her family relocated from Missouri to Gainesville, Georgia. Mary's father worked for the railroad and her mother was a homemaker raising Mary and her three younger siblings, Mildred Webb Hendricks, Frank Winfield Webb, Jr. and Joseph Reese Webb. Mary graduated from Gainesville High School in 1929 and continued her education by receiving her undergraduate degree from Oglethorpe College with a major in Home Economics.

Mary and C. Tyner were married in 1934. Together they spent 44 years happily married enjoying, bridge and dancing. Mary was a lover of life and enjoyed many activities including bridge, a good social gatherings and traveling. Many of her memorable trips were taken with the Prime Timers of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She joined Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and then moved to Dahlonega United Methodist Church.

Mary's favorite things included a tasty piece of chocolate, the right shade of blue and the companionship of many wonderful friends. It was Mary's fortune to live 98 years, be mother to daughter, Millie Smith, grandmother to Larry Keith Smith (deceased) and Kelly W. Smith, great-grandmother to Christopher Smith and Jennie Smith Clark, and great-great-grandmother to five children. Close to her heart were members of her family, including a special niece, Mary Jo Nunn, as well as other nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel, 989 Riverside Drive, NE, Gainesville, Georgia 30501. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Reverend John Mark Carpenter and Reverend Christy Greenwald will officiate.
