Donald C. Strickland

Donald C. Strickland, 81, of Dawsonville, GA died Saturday October 16, 2010 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born November 25, 1929 in Orlando, Florida to the late Thomas W. and Eula Catherine Strickland, he lived in south Florida a number of years and in Cordele, GA for 13 years before moving to Dawson County over 3 years ago. Mr. Strickland was a partner in Strickland & Waters Floor Finishing in south Florida. He was a member of the Third Street Baptist Church in Cordele, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Miami, Florida and was a U. S. Army veteran. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Gary Strickland, Barry Strickland, and a brother, B. W. Strickland.

Surviving are his loving wife and Cordele native, Joyce Adkins Strickland, Dawsonville; sons and daughter in law, Eugene Strickland, Bryson City, NC, James D. and Connie Strickland, Burlington, NC, Roy Strickland, Vero Beach, FL; stepchildren, Michael D. and Kathy Barrett, Cumming, GA, Sandra Lee and Terry Chaychuk, Brampton, Ontario, Canada; sisters and brother in law, Faye and Frank Zenere, Deltona, FL, Patsy Puckett, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Jerrene Pullman, Palm Bay, FL; brother and sister in law, John and Marcie Spicer, Pembrook Pine, FL; sister in law, Thekla Strickland, Miami, FL; brother in law and sisters in law, Billy Wayne and Valerie Priest, Vienna, GL, Faye Adkins, Cordele, GA; ten grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Saturday October 23, 2010 at 11 o'clock at Third Street Baptist Church. Dr. Jim Gaines and Rev. Billy Wayne Priest will officiate.
