John Edward Hahn, Jr., 52, of Lula, Georgia passed away peacefully Thursday evening at his residence after courageously battling cancer for several years.
Memorial services will be held in the North-Riverside Chapel of Memorial Park at 7:00 pm Monday October 18, 2010. The Reverend Phil Carpenter will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm prior to the service.
Mr. Hahn was born in Elyria, OH. He was employed by Wrigley's Manufacturing. Prior to his employment at Wrigley's, John was employed at Glidden Paint Company for 19 years. Mr. Hahn attended Riverbend Baptist Church and was a regular at the Girly-Men Coffee Club. John Hahn will be both fondly remembered and sorely missed by all who knew him during his short life of 52 years He is best remembered as a devoted husband, brother and son, as well as a loving uncle to all his nieces and nephews. To his many close friends he will be irreplaceable. John was an expert welder, metalworker, and electrician who had enough skill in his two mortal hands to have transcended three or four lifetimes. Quiet, soft-spoken, insightful and kind, he still had a quick wit that brought laughter to all around him. His loss will be felt by many.
John is survived by his wife Robin Jenkins Hahn of Lula, parents John E. and Eleanor A. Hahn of Clyde, OH, mother-in-law Margaret Jenkins, Gainesville, sisters Renee' E. Carroll of Seattle, WA, Deirdra Hahn of Tallassee, AL, sister and brother-in-law Alicia and Robert Crockett, sister-in-law Loria Ritchart of Clyde, OH, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Ann Aulick of Buffalo, MN. He is also survived by nieces Karly Lalonde, Hollie (Bryan) Lau, Helene Hahn, nephews Alex Harrington and Sonny Crockett and great-nephew Charlie Lau. He was preceded in death by his brother Benjamin J. Hahn and father-in-law Ernest (Pete) Jenkins.
